Vertical Data Plans

Mobilcast Maestro Bill Valenti just asked the Podcast Hotel audience whether they'd be willing to pay something like $5 per month just for podcasts. Resounding yes. Confirming that the approach Rogers has taken, and others seem to want to take, is the right one.


  1. Perhaps that is a quesion better posed to a different group than professional podcasters...

  2. I agree with you. The real measure will be uptake at Rogers in Canada, who is doing this today. And at the other carriers we're talking with here in the US. The model itself is somewhat proven - carriers sell specific plans for things like text messaging today. The challenge we face is demonstrating the value of listening to a podcast on the phone. And, of course, educating the masses about what a podcast is.
